8) God has highly exalted Him
Philippians 2:1-11
1. Christ: suffering Saviour
Behold, my servant shall act wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted. (Isaiah 52:13)
but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. Phil 2:7)
“My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. (John 4:34)
For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. (John 6:38-39)
even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matt 20:28)
For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. (Isaiah 53:2)
being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form (Phil 2)
he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Phil 2:8)
he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people (Isaiah 53:8)
2. Christ: exalted Lord
Therefore God has highly exalted him (Phil 2:9)
Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. (Isa 53:10)
… and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:9-11)
I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.(Isa 42:8)
By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear allegiance.’ (Isaiah 45:23)
“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” (Rev 5:9-10)
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1)
