3) He was oppressed

Isaiah 53:6-7

He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.  (1 Peter 2:22-25

1. Why He died (v. 6)

a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. (verse 3)

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (verse 6)

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. (Titus 3:3)

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die (Romans 5:7)

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)

and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 cor 5:21)

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matt 27:46)

2. How He died (v. 7)

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. (Isaiah 53:7)

And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed,  saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”   (Luke 22:41-42)

And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?” But he remained silent and made no answer (Mark 4:60-61)

For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. (John 6:38)

Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him  (Isaiah 53:10)

who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb 12:2)

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,  (Jude 24)

For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. (1 Pe 2:21)
