Acts 1:1-11

“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)

“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

“Woman, behold your son” … “Behold, your mother” John 19:26 and v. 27

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  *Matthew 19:45-46)

 “I thirst” John 19:28

“It is finished,” John 19: 30

“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Luke 23:46

“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

“Woman, behold your son” … “Behold, your mother” “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

“I thirst”

“It is finished”

“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!”

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” nMatthew 28:18-20

He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the    Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:7-8

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. Acts 1:9

“Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” Acts 1:6

He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. Acts 1:7

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

1. Power

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you  Acts 1:8

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. John 15:26-27

But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. Acts 2:14

Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Acts 2:37

In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13-14

and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, Ephesians 1:19-20

2. Proclamation

And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. Acts 4:18

“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20

I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. Philippians 1:12-13

And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 1 Peter 3:15
