5) I thirst

John 19:17-30

And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

“Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

“Woman, behold your son” … “Behold, your mother”

Luke 23:34, Luke 23:43 & John 19:26-27

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  Matthew 27:46

“I thirst”  John 19:28

To fulfil Scripture

After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfil the Scripture), “I thirst.” John 19:28

For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. John 6:38

They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink. Psalm 69:21

A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. John 19:29

To demonstrate His humanity

And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. ark 15:23

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15

To demonstrate His work

And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ Luke 16:24

“I thirst” John 19:28

“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Luke 7:37-38

They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore Revelation 7:16
