Romans 16:1-16

They were Christians

so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. (Romans 12:5)

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Gal 3:28)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Rom 1:16)

And he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome.  (Acts 18:2)

Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners.

Greet my kinsman Herodion.  (Rom 16:7,11)

Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the family of Aristobulus. (Rom 16:10)

Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord. Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and my beloved Stachys. (verses 8-9)

Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:10)

They were Serving

that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well.  (verses 1-2)

Greet Mary, who has worked hard for you.  (v. 6)

Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked hard in the Lord.   (v. 11) 

Now I urge you, brothers—you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints— be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and labourer.  (1 Corinthians 15:15-16)

They were growing

Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in Asia. (verse 5)

to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Eph 4:12-13)
