34) The Encouragements
Romans 15:1-7
the God of endurance and encouragement verse 5)
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbour for his good, to build him up. (vs. 1-2)
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thess 5:14)
1. God encourages His people!
the God of endurance and encouragement (verse 5)
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (verses 5-6)
Through His Son
For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.” (verse 3)
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, (Phil 2:1)
Through His Scriptures
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (verse 4)
Through His Saints
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (verses 5-6)
I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage your hearts. (Col 4:8)
2. God calls His people to encourage!
Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
