27) The Doxology
Romans 11:23 – 12:2
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counsellor?” "Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. (vs. 33-36
The wisdom of God
Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! (verse 33)
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles (1 Cor 1:21-23)
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?
And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
(Romans 10:14)
The ways of God
How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! (verse 33)
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. (Phil 1:12-13)
The wideness of God
“For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counsellor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” (verses 34-35)
(34) Job 15:8, Job 36:22; Isa 40:13; Jer 23:18; (35) Job 35:7, Job 41:11
For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. (verse 36)
