Giving thanks with Solomon

2 Chronicles 6:1-21

A point of devotion

“Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father 2 Chronicles 6:4

Therefore you are great, O LORD God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 2 Samuel 7:22

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God,to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11

A prayer of dedication

Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the court, and he stood on it. Then he knelt on his knees in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven, 2 Chronicles 6:12

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, Ephesians 3:14

“O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart, who have kept with your servant David my father what you declared to him. You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day.  2 Chronicles 6:14-15

“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9

concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,.  Romans 1:3-4

The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one. Psalm 14:2-3

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

A place to dwell

“But will God indeed dwell with man on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built! 2 Chronicles 6:18

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, …  I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14:16, 18
