Christ’s Ascension

Psalm 24:1-10

1. Location

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. (verse 7)

Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? (verse 3)

And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the ark of God. (2 Sam 6:6-7)

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.  (v. 4)

In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. (John 14:2-3)

Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. (verse 7)

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  (Phil 2:9-11)

the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  (Matt 20:28)

“Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”  (Rev 5:9-10)

3. King 

Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! (verse 10)

But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honour because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.  (Heb 2:9)
