Jeremiah 23:1-8

“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. Romans 3:10-11

In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.’  Jeremiah 33:16

God is righteous

For the LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face. Psalm 11:7

You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.  1 John 3:5

Mankind is unrighteous

“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. Romans 3:10-11

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. Matthew 22:37-38

And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. Matthew 22:39

We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Isaiah 64:6

Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for my people: “You have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for your evil deeds, declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:2

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Jeremiah 23:5

And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.’ Jeremiah 23:6

God our righteousness

In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.’ Jeremiah 33:15-16

… descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Romans 1:3-4

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 1 Peter 3:18
