6) Sardis - Rev 3:1-6
To the Church at Sardis write …
1. Their Reputation
“‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (verse 1)
Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments (verse 4)
having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. (2 Tim 3:5)
2. Their Rebuke
Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God. Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. (vs. 2-3)
that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, (Eph 3:6)
If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you (verse 3)
For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. (1 Thess 5:2)
3. Their Reward
The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. (verse 5)
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy (Jude 24)
