2) Ephesus– Rev 2:1-7
To the Church at Ephesus write …
there is danger not only that this trade of ours may come into disrepute but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be counted as nothing, and that she may even be deposed from her magnificence, she whom all Asia and the world worship.” (Acts 19:27)
1. He knows our gathering
‘The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands. (verse 1)
2. He knows our labour
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:6)
“‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name's sake, and you have not grown weary. (verses 2-3)
3. He knows our hearts
man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. (verse 4)
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. (1 Corinthians 13:1)
Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. (verse 5)
4. He knows our needs
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’ (verse 7)
The tree of life was in the midst of the garden (Genesis 2:9)
He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. (Genesis 3:24)
