9) Salvation
how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? (Heb 2:3
1. The Saviour (Hebrews 1)
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith (Heb 12:2)
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. (Heb 1:3-4)
2. The Statistics (Hebrews 2:10)
not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. (1 Cor 1:26)
God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are (1 Cor 1:28)
For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. (Heb 2:10)
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Rev 7:9-10)
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. (Matt 7:13-14)
3. The Solution (Hebrews 2:9)
And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Gen 3:8)
“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. (Rom 3:10-11)
For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die (Rom 5:7)
