8) Joy (ii)
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. (Luke 2:10)
1. Unique
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” (verses 11-12)
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)
even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matt 20:28)
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor 5:21)
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. (Heb 9:28)
2. Universal
And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. (Luke 2:17,18 & 20)
