4) Prophet

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. (Deut 8::18)

Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited his people!” (Luke 7:16)

1. The promise of a Prophet

“The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen (Deut 18:15)

just as you desired of the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’ (Deut 18:16)

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him. (vs 17-18)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1,14)

And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. (Matthew 7:28-29)

“This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” (Mark 9:7)

And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. (Luke 7:15)

Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and “God has visited his people!” (Luke 7:16)

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people (Luke 1:68)

And when the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?’” (Luke 7:20)

Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you.  God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you by turning every one of you from your wickedness.”  (Acts 3:22, 26)

that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (1 Tim 1:15)

This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers.’  (Acts 7:37)

“You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51)

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son (Hebrews 1:1-2)
